Course Description
This course will examine how three religious traditions (Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism) approach issues relating to human sexuality. Topics discussed will include attitudes to sex, the practice of celibacy and asceticism, ideas of marriage and divorce, and rituals of union (weddings). Each of the three units involves a study of the religious scriptures, beliefs, mythology, rituals and art pertaining to the above topics. Assigned readings, films, and group discussions will augment lectures.
